The Kevin Cooper Defense Committee (“Company,” “we,” or “us”) knows that you care how information about you is used and shared.  This Privacy Policy explains what information of yours will be collected by Company when you use the Company Website, how the information will be used, and how you can control the collection, correction and/or deletion of information.   We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.  This Privacy Policy does not apply to information we collect by other means (including offline) or from other sources.  Capitalized terms that are not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning given them in our Terms of Use.

Information We Collect
Company collects information at different points on our Website. The two main points at which we collect information are when users sign a petition powered by Company and when users sign up to receive updates or send support messages through the contact page.

User-Provided Information:
You provide us information about yourself, such as your name e-mail address, and certain demographic information when you sign a petition, sign up to receive updates or send support messages. If you correspond with us by email, we may retain the content of your email messages, your email address and our responses.

Cookies Information:
When you visit the Website, we may send one or more cookies - a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters - to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser and enhances your navigation through the site.  A cookie may also convey information about how you browse the Website to us.  A cookie does not collect personal information about you.  A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive after you close your browser. Persistent cookies may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser’s directions. A session cookie is temporary and disappears after you close your browser. You can reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features of the Website may not function properly if the ability to accept cookies is disabled.

Log File Information:
Log file information is automatically reported by your browser each time you access a web page.  When you use the Website, our servers automatically record certain log file information. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks and how you interact with links on the Website, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such information.

Clear Gifs Information:
When you use the Website, we may employ clear gifs (also known as web beacons) which are used to track the online usage patterns of our Users anonymously.  In addition, we may also use clear gifs in HTML-based emails sent to our Users to track which emails are opened by recipients.

Third Party Websites:
Company uses third party analytics website such as Google Analytics to help understand use of the Website. Third party analytics websites collect the information sent by your browser as part of a web page request, including cookies and your IP address. Third party analytics websites also receive this information and their use of it is governed by their Privacy Policy.

How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information you submit for the purposes of use in the campaign to save Kevin Cooper and/or for transmission with a petition signed by the Users to the various governmental officials as part of the Website campaign initiative. In addition, we may use such personal information to contact you about future campaigns and petitions initiated by the Company.

By providing Company your email address (including by “following,” “liking,” adding the Company application, etc., on a third party website or network), you consent to our using the email address to send you Website-related notices, including any notices required by law, in lieu of communication by postal mail.  You also agree that we may send you notifications of activity on the Website to the email address you give us.  We may use your email address to send you other messages, such as newsletters, changes to features of the Website, new petitions or special offers.  If you do not want to receive such email messages, you may opt out by sending an email to [email protected].  Opting out may prevent you from receiving email messages regarding updates, improvements, petitions, or offers.
Company may use certain information about you internally for purposes such as analyzing how the Website is used, diagnosing service or technical problems, maintaining security, and personalizing content.

We may use cookies, clear gifs, and log file information to: (a) monitor the effectiveness of our Website; (b) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, and demographic patterns; (c) diagnose or fix technology problems reported by our Users or engineers that are associated with certain IP addresses; (d) help you efficiently access and sign a petition; and (e) automatically update the Company application on your system and related devices.
